Sagenhaftes Island - Guest of Honour at the Frankfurt Book Fair in 2011

Iceland will be Guest of Honour at the Frankfurt Book Fair in 2011. This will provide a unique opportunity to present Icelandic literary culture to Germany, and to the book world as a whole – as well as to promote Icelandic culture and arts in general. At sagenhaftes-island.is you will find the latest news and information on Icelandic literature and authors in Icelandic, English and German.

 

Literature.is  

Literature.is is a website that contains information about contemporary Icelandic authors.  The site is run by Reykjavík City Library and note that authors are listed by their first name, according to the Icelandic tradition. Click here for more information

 

The Writers´ Union

The Writers´ Union of Iceland is a professional organisation for authors founded in 1974. It currently has some 350 members, including poets, novelists, dramatists, scriptwriters, writers of children’s books, authors of academic works, and translators. Þórbergur Þórðarson has had a considerable influence on Icelandic literature, but few of his works are available in translation. His works include Ofvitinn, Bréf til Láru, Íslenskur aðall and Suðursveit.
