The Center for Icelandic Literature established

- The Icelandic Literature Fund and Fabulous Iceland merge

A law establishing The Center for Icelandic Literature was enacted by the Icelandic parliament last December. The Center for Icelandic Literature was created by merging The Icelandic Literature Fund and Fabulous Iceland (Sagenhaftes Island) into one organization.

The role of the Center is to support the publication of Icelandic works of literature in other languages and the publication of literary works translated into Icelandic. Its role is also to raise awareness of Icelandic literature, both within Iceland and abroad, and promote its distribution - as well as nurture literary culture in Iceland.
